Dan Johnson - Interim Pastor

During Dan’s careers as a bank operations officer and then medical practice manager, Dan and his wife Ellen have been continuously involved in various church ministry roles—now in six states! At age 40, Dan went to seminary (with Ellen and family) and completed his MDiv from Columbia Biblical Seminary with a previous BA from Indiana University. He served 10 years as Senior Pastor at Crossroads Community Church (EFCA) in Evart, MI, and Senior Pastor for 7 years at The Rock Bible Church in Greenwood, IN. Serving with Interim Pastor Ministries since 2018, he completed IPM’s intentional interim ministry at two EFCA churches (Ainsworth, NE & Osceola, WI) with coaching from Dave Jenkins and Ken Moberg—author of Help, We Just Lost Our Pastor!

Dan loves the church, the privilege of expository preaching, and is inspired by winning and growing disciples who serve alongside healthy teams “…to strengthen churches during transition for greater effectiveness!” IPM Mission Statement

Dan and Ellen grew up attending EFCA churches, have been married for 39 years, and have been blessed with 2 married daughters and six grandchildren. They enjoy getting to know new people, daytrips to explore our latest surroundings, returning to visit our family, and discovering what Christ is doing in His churches!

Associate Pastor

Cory Shreve - Pastor

Pastor Cory, and his wife Heather, are thrilled to serve the Lord at Lake Community Church. Pastor Cory has been in full-time pastoral ministry for over twenty years serving on staff at churches in Brooklyn Park, Pelican Rapids, and Annandale, MN. Before joining LCC in 2019, he served for eight years as Pastor of Family Ministries at an EFCA church in Illinois and taught biblical studies at Trinity Oaks Christian Academy for four years.

Cory holds a B.S. in Youth Ministry and Biblical Studies from Crown College as well as a Master in Theological Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. In 2010, Cory was ordained in the EFCA. 

When not serving the Lord at Lake Community, Pastor Cory will likely be hanging with his wife and 3 kids, hunting or fishing, biking, or training and teaching martial arts.

Chelsey Genszler

Chelsey Genszler - Communications Director

Chelsey and her husband, Matt, have attended LCC since 2020. They have one son and look forward to growing their family.
 
Chelsey has served in ministry for ten years in a variety of communications, design, and marketing roles. She has her Bachelor's in Communication: Public Relations and Master's in Ministry Studies with a focus in Technology. 
 
Chelsey loves spending time with family and friends, whether it be playing games, going for walks, or spending time outdoors and on the lake.

Roxie Green - Administration Support

Roxie was born and raised in Hancock, a small town in west-central Minnesota. She moved to Alexandria in 1990, where she met her husband, an Alexandria native just returned from the Marines. Roxie enjoys a quiet life: reading a good book, doing puzzles, going for walks, sitting outside and listening to nature, a car ride on a sunny day, volunteering within the community, and being with those she loves. 
 
Roxie's first job (outside of babysitting) was as part-time secretary in her small home church. After 15 years in office settings and 20 years as a stay-at-home mom to her twin daughters, Roxie has joined the LCC staff. Her primary role includes various administrative tasks in the church office.

Christine Van Engen

Christine Van Engen - Office Coordinator

I was born and raised in southwest MN and then left rural life for Chicagoland to study architecture at Judson University in Elgin, IL, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree with a minor in Business. After college, I spent four months in Uganda, Africa, as an architect intern for a nonprofit organization called Engineering Ministries International. It was there that I learned I love architecture, but I love working within a ministry team more. I came back to the US unsure of what God had in store, but God did His thing and took me on an adventure of working for a couple different ministries, meeting my husband, moving to Alexandria and raising our three kiddos.

A few of my favorite things are time with my family, camping, sunsets, sandy beaches, baseball and the MN Twins.

Cindy McKittrick

Finance Director

Cindy McKittrick - Finance Director

Cindy McKittrick joined the LCC staff in August 2023 as the church finance director. As a self-identified lover of spreadsheets, numbers, and Jesus; being LCC's Finance Director is a natural fit!  

Cindy and her husband Wade are native South Dakotans who took the Minnesota plunge in 1996 when they moved to Albert Lea, MN to pursue careers in education. Since that move, Cindy has been blessed with a variety of professional opportunities, but none have touched her heart more than her 15-year involvement with Hope Harbor where she has had the opportunity to serve teens and their families through this life changing ministry. After 8 years as the executive director, Cindy officially stepped down from her role in March of 2024 and now volunteers as a member of the Hope Harbor governing board. Cindy and Wade moved to Alexandria to be "radically available grandparents" in May 2024.  

Aside from time with family, Cindy loves spending time going 3mph around the lake on the pontoon, reading, and getting to know people. She is passionate about strong marriages, solid finances, and healthy families. Cindy and Wade are blessed to be part of the LCC family and look forward to helping the church achieve its mission of "reaching people for Christ and building people in Christ!"

Bob Degel

Building Maintenance

Bob Degel - Lead Maintenance

Bob grew up in Bloomington, MN. He attended Normandale Community College and Winona State University prior to moving to Alexandria, MN.

His primary role at LCC includes overseeing all general building maintenance, event set-up and tear-down and cleaning.

Kate Turnquist

Nursery Director

Kate Turnquist - Nursery Director

Kate and her husband, Nick, have attended LCC since they moved to the area in 2021. Her favorite role is being Nick’s wife and preparing their home to one day, raise a household of Jesus’ disciples, but her current day job is a lease accountant for Geneva Capital.  

Kate has served with kids and student ministries on and off for the last 5 years. She has a passion for sharing the gospel and caring for the youngest generations of our church. 

Kate enjoys cooking and baking, gardening, running, biking, kayaking, and any opportunity she has to challenge Nick or a group of friends to a board game.

Nick Ahlers

Nick Ahlers - Life Group Director

Nick was raised on a dairy farm near Gibbon MN. He grew up in church, but really started submitting his life to Christ around the age of 20 years old. He married Jasmin in 2015 and they currently have two children. He is currently enrolled at Alexandria Technical and Community College with plans to transfer and work towards his bachelors degree in Ministry and Leadership. 

Nick is passionate about developing deep meaningful relationships that center around Christ, where the word of God can be put into practice as well as getting to teach and experience the truths of God's Word together in a community of fellow believers. He has been a part of life groups where he met Jasmin his wife and some of his best friends. These are relationships that have grown through putting God's Word into practice in daily life. He is excited to help others build the same kind of relationships that center on Christ. His prayer is that God would bless all the life groups, current and still to come, with deep friendships where people can come and be known and grow in the Lord together.
 
Nick's hobbies include a wide variety of activities like exercise, hiking, fishing, reading, and gaming (both tabletop and video).

Kyle VanderTuin - Worship Ministry Director

Kyle grew up in Alexandria attending LCC, and now attends with his wife Jasmine and their three daughters.

Kyle has led worship in many environments including rehab centers, college ministries, missions, and other churches. He has a passion for creating and maintaining a team of worshipers that is built on a foundation of truth and a desire to worship.

Dave Deakins - Facilities Director

Dave is married to his lovely wife, Sue and has two children and one grandson. They have been attending Lake Community Church for over 25 years.

Dave has served on the financial committee and is currently on the emergency response team at Lake Community Church.

Dave enjoys spending time with his family. He has an interest in cars, hunting, fishing, and working on projects in his shop.

Brad and his wife Leigha have three adult children. During their 10+ years at LCC they have been involved with small group studies, marriage ministry, and trips to Ensenada Mexico. Brad has served in children’s ministry, setup teams, PLT, and project committees.  Leigha has served in women’s ministry and youth ministry. It is Brad’s desire to join the PLT in their service to LCC.

Brad’s interests include family, outdoors, and woodworking.

Ron and his wife Barb have been attending LCC since 2014. They have two adult boys and three grandchildren. Ron has worked in children’s ministry at previous churches and spent time on a church council. They volunteer for Transformational Tuesday’s and host a bible study in their home. Ron is a current member of LCC’s emergency response team.

Ron loves spending time with family, especially the grandbabies, as well as hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Andrew Paskewitz

Andrew Paskewitz - PLT Member

Although Andrew grew up in church, he wouldn't say he really gave his life to God until his time in college. Andrew got involved with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) at NDSU in Fargo, and saw God transform a lot of things in his life and heart, refocusing his faith from one looking to simply follow the rules, to one focused on a real God that wants to live life with us. It was also through Cru at NDSU that Andrew met Emily, his wife of 12 years. Following graduation Emily and Andrew joined staff with Cru, leading and discipling college students in Fargo and then St. Cloud.

In 2017 Andrew and Emily transitioned to Alexandria when Andrew started a job at Douglas Machine in the mechanical engineering department. You'll often see Andrew in the sound booth or helping lead worship on Sunday mornings, and if it was up to him, on the golf course the rest of the time. Andrew is passionate about seeing the gospel become real to people, and lives his life by the verse 1 Thes. 2:8, "Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well."
