When Good News Turns Bad

Nobody likes a bait and switch.  Who likes to be told that something is free and then later learn that it will cost you?  Nobody.  In the early church, the message of Jesus Christ was simple.  Believe in Jesus and you will be saved.  Soon however, there would be a new message that would add requirements to salvation.  This will be one of the first tests of the Church to remain true to the Gospel message to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and you will be saved.  

We have this same struggle today.  Can you add or subtract to the message of the Gospel?  The Bible clearly warns us not to do this yet we can see this every day.  At Lake Community Church we are in the middle of a sermon series called Sent, which is based on the book of Acts.  In the message this week we will address the priority of keeping the Gospel message pure.
