As we continue our series in the book of Acts, we are seeing God do some incredible things in and through the early church and in the lives of specific people. This week, we see a new believer in Jesus and the Gospel message who is then rebuked and rejected as he is told, “Your heart is not right before God” (Acts 8:21). This week causes us to consider our own hearts and our own attitudes about our relationship with God. One of the biggest questions that arises is the issue of our motives and the condition of our hearts. Are we truly following Jesus or are we wanting to be with God for our own personal gain?
