Why do we have silly arguments that cause disunity and strife? We have all found ourselves wishing we could just start the conversation over but whenever we start to argue, we just want to win. The Church is no exception. In some cases, the people in churches find themselves “quarreling about words” as much as other groups. In 2 Timothy, Paul warns us that this type of activity ruins those who listen and damages our ability to present the good news of Jesus Christ as true and life-changing. Why would anyone want to join a religion where they argue about silly things?
Wait a second, aren’t there some issues or theological issues we should stand our ground on? Don’t we have a responsibility to protect sound doctrine? Are there issues worth arguing about?
