Lake Community Church is committed to protecting your privacy and utilizing technology that gives you a safe and useful online experience. This Privacy Statement applies to Lake Community’s website at lakecommunity.org and related online tools (e.g., My Lake Community online portal), as well as data collection and usage. By using Lake Community’s website and related tools you consent to the data practices described in this statement.
Collection & Use of Personal Information
When you use Lake Community’s website and related tools, you may be asked to provide personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, home address, phone number, and demographic information.
The information you provide is used exclusively (a) to provide the service you requested, and (b) for other applicable ministry uses (e.g., communicating to you about other Lake Community services/information, providing you access to privileged areas of the My Lake Community online portal, evaluating and improving the services/information Lake Community offers, collection of ministry involvement statistics, conducting surveys/research of your opinion/intentions for Lake Community initiatives/events, etc.)
Collection & Use of Performance Information
There is information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by Lake Community. This information can include your IP address, browser type, domain names, access types and referring website addresses. Lake Community also keeps track of the pages users visit within Lake Community’s website. This information is used for the operation of the service, to maintain the quality of the service and to provide general use statistics of the Lake Community website and related tools.
Additionally, we can collect statistics on whether email messages were opened and whether links contained in email messages were clicked. These statistics are used to evaluate the effectiveness of our email communication.
Lake Community may use a third party service to collect aggregates of this information, but no personally identifiable information is passed to this third party.
Information Security
Lake Community protects your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Lake Community secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment. When personal information is transmitted to other websites (e.g., credit card numbers, online check account numbers), it is protected through the use of encryption. Credit card and online check account information is not stored on Lake Community’s servers. Credit card and online check account information that is needed for follow-up transactions (e.g., recurring online gifts) is stored on a highly secured third-party server.
Lake Community does not sell, rent or lease your information to third parties. Lake Community may share data with trusted partners to help us accomplish ministry tasks (e.g., perform statistical analysis, send church communications such as our weekly email updates, accomplish ministry responsibilities/tasks via trusted volunteers). All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Lake Community, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
If you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive information through public message boards (e.g., LCC Prayer Chain), this information may be collected and used by others.
Lake Community is not responsible for the privacy statements of websites outside of the Lake Community website and related tools.
Lake Community will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the law or legal process served on Lake Community; (b) protect and defend the rights and property of Lake Community; and (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users, Lake Community or the public.
