JUST BELIEVE! This is the cry of John in the Gospel of John. We learn that this book was written for the purpose of sharing the story of Jesus so that those who read it will believe. The verb “believe” shows up 98 times in the book of John alone.
Today, the word “believe” has been hijacked. When we say that we believe in something it means that we feel strongly about it. These days it seems like everyone can believe in whatever they want and we can all be right. How has this relative truth affected the concept of believing in spiritual things? What are the dangers of this shift in how we believe? What is biblical belief and how can we grow in our faith?
